Voices Unveiled on Channel 9 NBC News

"Afghan women need your kind of support so that we can find ourselves, even while living through the worst possible kind of crisis. I am grateful to you as an Afghan girl." - B.S. - age 18
Since the Taliban took control in 2021, women in Afghanistan have faced gender apartheid. They are prisoners of war in their own homes, banned from school, work and all social life. Female artistic expression has been outlawed. Educated women are now confined to only domestic duties, forced marriages, and child-bearing.

Women must wear a full burka and be accompanied by a male guardian to leave their homes. Discussions about emotions, health, and sexuality are forbidden, and mental health support is inaccessible.

Many women are grappling with poverty and experiencing suicidal thoughts.

Voices Unveiled is here to provide online education, empowerment and mental health support to women in Afghanistan and neighboring countries.
